About Master’s Certificate Program in Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS)

The University of Regina (UofR) has one of the world’s best research programs and a long (over 30 years) history of working in areas related to “Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS)”. This was well documented in a recent article in the Clean Energy Journal of Oxford University Press - “CO2-capture research and Clean Energy Technologies Research Institute (CETRI) of University of Regina, Canada: history, current status and future development”; Clean Energy Journal; Vol 6, No 1, 883-890, 2022; Oxford University Press UK). This article is attached as an appendix. CCUS is recognized as an important technology for our low-carbon energy future. As stated in the special energy report by International Energy Agency that “Reaching net zero will be virtually impossible without CCUS” (also see International Energy Agency. CCUS in Clean Energy Transitions. Paris: IEA, September 2020). This program is designed for graduate students who are interested in solving one of the world’s important environmental issues of our time. Ideally, the students should have a first degree in Engineering (e.g., Process, Chemical, Environmental, Petroleum, etc.) or Science (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, etc.) According to FGSR regulations, these classes could be used to include into regular graduate programs in PSENG, if the students continue with UofR at MEng, MASc, or PhD program. The admission for non PSENG students requires approval from the PSENG program coordinator.
