The Department of Mathematics at Jamia Millia Islamia was established in the year 1971 with the introduction of B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics. Since then the department has come a long way, pioneering in the most modern educational programs such as Mathematics with Computer Science. The department successfully keeps up with the high-end requirements of Industry and focuses on the professional development of its students
The Department has a cohesive group of workers in the fields of Algebra, Analysis, Applied Mathematics (Dynamical Systems, Numerical Analysis, Fracture Mechanics, Information Security, Data Mining), & Differential Geometry and are actively engaged in wide-ranging areas of research in Mathematics and allied subjects.
Aligning to the aspirations of the founders of Jamia Millia Islamia and precisely to the vision of the Mathematics department, Maths Geeks, the Mathematics Society, aims to proliferate and promote Mathematics as a subject and more as a tool for integrating and simplifying one's daily pursuits . We aim to pioneer activities to collectively achieve our endeavours. We are evolving through articles, podcasts and webinars and strive to impact the students of JMI and the mathematics fraternity at large.
