#MattsBBQ started as a BBQ for Matt’s birthday, with around 30 mates in a back garden back in 2006. The birthday celebration grew in popularity rapidly, until the numbers were too big for Matt’s mum’s house to accommodate. So in 2012, after 6 years of house parties, the BBQ venue had to change.
#MattsBBQ quickly became a solid date in the summer calendar for the local community. Its popularity then spread across the UK with forthcoming events held at a variation of football clubs and cricket grounds filling venues with over 1000 attendees.
A few years later #MattsBBQ occupied a dedicated festival site for the 1st time with a capacity of 3000 people. Since then, the popular event has exploded onto the scene capturing the interest and appearances of artists and DJs from all over the UK and the rest of the world – with attendees growing to over 7000 per show!
The events have also expanded to a Winter edition held at The Indigo at the O2 Arena, a Halloween edition at The Troxy London, #MattsBBQ has even been taken abroad to Jamaica and Ibiza!
