MATTU (Minimal Access Therapy Training Unit)

The Minimal Access Therapy Training Unit (MATTU), based at the University of Surrey, operates in close collaboration with the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Recognised as an international centre of excellence for telesurgery, the MATTU is dedicated to advancing surgical education and training through cutting-edge technology and expert-led programs. We are equipped with world-class surgical training resources, providing an advanced learning environment for medical professionals and trainees. Its live-link capabilities enable real-time connections to operating theatres, allowing for interactive surgical demonstrations and immersive training experiences. Our simulation suites offer hands-on practice and insights in minimally invasive techniques, helping trainees refine their skills in a risk-free setting. Additionally, the modernised presentation rooms are designed to facilitate engaging lectures, discussions, and hands-on workshops, ensuring a comprehensive and dynamic approach to surgical education. The MATTU is accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons, allowing it to deliver a full range of College approved courses that uphold the highest standards of surgical education. In addition to these core programs, MATTU offers specialized training led by experts in various surgical fields, including Colorectal, Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Oesophago-Gastric, ENT, Gynaecological, and Orthopaedic Surgery.
