About Maybe Sunday Inc

Maybe Sunday Inc. started as a conceptual clothing brand in Chicago in 2014. Two artists had a dream of making what they felt was really missing from life in America, and in Chicago, specifically: the renaissance of a day off, the presence of blue skies, and evergreen grass, which became the hallmark of our Pilsen store – white gallery walls and luscious astroturf floors. What began as an intrigue to use the internet as a means of proliferation, our then-storefront headquarters took on a life of its own, attracting young artist entrepreneurs, art collectors, and art-curious to become a nexus convergence of art, music, fashion, discussion, and collaboration. For founder and current owner McKenzie Thompson, there was a magical energy that came from artists stopping by and having real conversations that would fill the room with an expansive magnetic light that was physically feelable in the body. As we were all seeking, we found that in those real moments together, we were all catalyzed. Many of the artists we knew then continue their work and are becoming cultural powerhouses of the 21st Century. The artist journey may be often a very solo one, but there is unmistakable power in experiencing those touchpoints of community that can boost us to thrive. This is the spirit of Maybe Sunday. May it ever survive. Our current project is Outsider Supply, a conceptual art history-focused brand intent on expanding the canon and keeping artistic ideas alive in contemporary minds.
