MBOLD believes that the future of food and agriculture must be one that nourishes a growing global population while protecting and preserving the Earth’s natural resource base for generations to come. From our home base in Minnesota – a state with a unique concentration of globally-leading food and agriculture companies and research institutions – we work to accelerate solutions that address pressing challenges in food and agriculture. Current Initiatives: Advancing Soil Health and Water Stewardship MBOLD is working with value chain stakeholders to support farmers and ranchers in adopting soil health and water stewardship practices, build markets for alternative crops and manage the risk that farmers face when taking new approaches. Creating a Circular Economy for Flexible Packaging Film MBOLD is spearheading the development of a circular economy for flexible packaging films in the Upper Midwest to cut waste and give these materials a second life. Entrepreneurship MBOLD is bringing together the disruptive thinking of entrepreneurs and innovators from around the world with the reach, resources and acumen of large global companies to take good ideas to scale. MBOLD is working with an array of partners to make Minnesota a leading hub of innovation to make proteins more environmentally sustainable. As we embark on this new initiative, we will: Work with MBOLD members and other partners to scale up and commercialize new technologies and products in the protein sustainability space related to both traditional proteins like meat and dairy, and plant and alternative proteins. Identify opportunities to partner with stakeholders in Europe, Canada and other countries around the world that are also committed to driving protein sustainability. Support greater connectivity and collaboration among interested businesses, research institutions and other organizations in our regional protein ecosystem. Mentor smaller businesses that are breaking new trail in protein innovation.
