The Multidisciplinary Breast Reconstruction Research Program is committed to enhancing health-related quality of life and health equity for breast cancer patients, survivors, and their families through multidisciplinary clinical research that integrates surgery, engineering, and psychosocial methods and perspectives. The Multidisciplinary Breast Reconstruction Research Program contributes to science of image analysis, decision analysis and decision support, biomechanics, and psycho-oncology in the context of breast cancer care as evidenced by numerous publications and presentations. The MBR Research Program gratefully acknowledges the support of current and former grants and gifts from federal agencies and private foundations, including the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Science Foundation (NSF), American Cancer Society, The Duncan Family Institute for Cancer Prevention and Risk Assessment, Texas 4000, and Kyte Foundation. The Multidisciplinary Breast Reconstruction Research Program is comprised of a multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional research team. Members share their expertise from many perspectives, including plastic and reconstructive surgery, biomedical engineering, biostatistics, decision sciences, imaging physics and psychiatry. The program brings together resources from across MD Anderson Cancer Center as well as partner institutions that include The University of Texas at Austin, University of Chicago, and University of Houston. Education and training opportunities at the undergraduate through postdoctoral levels are available at each of the partnering institutions.
