The McDevitt Laboratory is committed to dealing with infectious bacterial diseases in the 21st century.
Research projects in the McDevitt group investigate the interaction of pathogenic bacteria with the host environment, with particular interests in how the chemistry of the host environment changes in response to infection and the impact of these elemental changes on invading pathogens.
We leverage this knowledge to take a non-traditional approach to antibacterial development, engineering novel therapeutics with unique mechanisms of action.
The McDevitt laboratory is part of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology within the Doherty Institute at the University of Melbourne.
