The McDonald’s Kinderhilfe was founded in 1987. Since 2008 the help of the foundation is delivered through Ronald McDonald Houses, Ronald McDonald Family Rooms. Furthermore the McDonald’s Kinderhilfe develops, runs, and supports programs dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of children.
Ronald McDonald Houses offer families a temporary home so that they can stay in the proximity of a children’s hospital where their seriously ill child is undergoing treatment.
Currently there are 22 Ronald McDonald Houses in Germany near to the children’s hospital. The foundation is part of the international Ronald McDonald House Charities with domicile in Chigago (USA), which operates more than 370 Ronald McDonald Houses and around 260 Ronald McDonald Family Rooms in 45 countries.
The Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are oases of calm at the heart of busy children’s hospital for little out-patients and their families. The colorful rooms are places where the whole family can wind down and take their mind off between treatments.
