MEAI Mining Today

The Mining Engineers' Association of India (MEAI) founded in the year 1957 is a premier professional body in the country having members with experience in Mining, Geology, Geo –physics, Metallurgy and allied subjects related to Mining and Mineral Industry. The Association has a membership base of over 5,500 individual members under different categories (Life, Annual, Honorary and Student) besides 70 Life Institutional members from Private and Public mining companies, State and Central Government departments/ undertakings. A National Council, elected by the members, run the Association under the leadership of its President. The Secretary General is the principal office bearer of the Association. The activities of the Association and its 25 Chapters, spread geographically across the country, are actively coordinated from its National Headquarters located at Flat Nos: 608 & 609, Raghava Ratna Towers, Abids, Hyderabad. The Association's National Headquarters has suitable facilities to accommodate office rooms, a Lecture hall and Library. The library hosts a treasure of over 500 books consisting of textbooks relating to mining, geosciences, souvenirs, seminar proceedings, national and international mining and related journals/ magazines etc. and accessible to its members, college students and scholars. The main objectives of the Association are safeguarding and enhancing the professional competence and integrity of mineral industry professionals viz. mining engineers, geologists and allied engineers and geoscientists, serving in the mineral industry. It also aims at contributing its might to induce scientific and technological developments in the mining industry for the benefit of its professionals and the Country. Besides these, MEAI maintains regular interaction with the government and concerned departments, and the mineral industry to offer technical guidance for the benefit of industry.
