About MedAgenda

Hi there, I'm Doug and I'm a failure......... and proud of it! I wanted to begin with that to help explain why this LI company page even exists. This company never made a dime in revenue, burned through a lot of investor money, and never helped to improve the health or happiness of a single patient. Yet we built an entire platform that was ready to be plugged in to the healthcare system just before EHRs became mandatory. MedAgenda was one of the businesses that I co-founded around 2010. It was an idea to help address the antiquated way in which patients were discharged from the hospital. My co-founders and I had a dream to reduce hospital readmissions by using text messaging for improve adherence to an individual's health care plan. This, in turn, would reduce the hospital's financial risk when certain penalties (reduction in reimbursement) would be given to hospitals with high readmission rates. We spent approx. 4 years on this startup before we had to call it ......MedAgenda was dead. Here are some lessons I learned in my mid-20s from this failure. I hope that someone finds this page and learns something from it. -Don't let ego get in the way -Find subject matter experts and ask for help -Don't spread yourself to thin by launching too many initiatives at once -Get the MVP in the hands of end users as soon as possible - don't just rely on what you THINK the users want -Be more curious and ask a lot of questions -Listen to your gut -Be willing and able to pivot your revenue model if need be -Sometimes it may be better to be on the bleeding edge, instead of the cutting edge, of innovation. -The politics of healthcare makes me sick
