Going since 2002, Media Smart is the UK’s award-winning, educational non-profit focused on helping 7–21 -year-olds confidently navigate the media and advertising they consume. We do this through the creation of free teaching resources and engaging awareness campaigns direct to young people in the online / offline places where they like to spend time. Media Smart is a proud subsidiary company of the Advertising Association.
Recently we’ve focussed on subjects like scams, greenwashing, political advertising, influencer marketing, body image, piracy, and platform specific resources on TikTok and Instagram. We’re currently rolling out a careers programme which will see industry professionals going into schools to encourage students into media + advertising roles and the pathways to get there – these will be young people who get little to no careers advice and probably wouldn’t even know the industry was a career option for them. The intention is to bring new voices and perspectives into media and advertising.
MS has 38 industry supporters, comprising of Media Owners, Agencies, Clients, Trade Bodies and Government.
