The MedInCircle project (Future-proofing the Mediterranean agri-food chain through integrated and circular management of contaminant-safe water, nutrients and bioresources) is a European project funded in 2023 under the "PRIMA Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area". With a total budget of about 1.4 M€, and the collaboration of 6 partners across EU and Africa, it aims to develop an innovative vision for the integrated and circular management of water, nutrients and bioresources.
MedInCircle envisions the Mediterranean as an innovation hub for a climate-resilient, sustainable, and productive agri-food sector, meeting population needs while conserving water, nutrients, and protecting the region’s hydrosphere and biome. The project’s goal is to develop, test, and validate innovative nutrient recycling and sustainable ferti-irrigation practices. It focuses on implementing on-site solutions for circular management of water, wastewater, and solid waste in Mediterranean agri-food systems.
