The Melbourne Ice Women’s Team is Victoria’s premier female representative team in the Australian Women’s Ice Hockey League (AWIHL).
The team was originally known and played as the Melbourne Dragons and in 2010 entered into an MOU with Melbourne Ice. This agreement saw the Melbourne Dragons now wearing the Melbourne Ice brand. It continues to operate as a separate club behind the scenes (Melbourne Dragons) with its dedicated committee of management.
The team has won seven Joan McKowen Championship trophies and are six-time league premiers, making them the most successful National ice hockey team in Australia.
In 2019, the Melbourne Ice Women were ranked 23rd in the Australasia Best Sporting Team (ABST) top twenty-five list. They also took home the Vic Sport “Team of the Year” in 2018.
