MELIORA, Multimodal Engagement and sustainable Lifestyle Interventions Optimizing breast cancer Risk reduction supported by Artificial intelligence, is a project funded by the Horizon Europe programme of the European Union under Grant Agreement number 101136791.
MELIORA aims to bring sustainable behavioural change to reduce effectively and cost-effectively the risk of breast cancer through the development and implementation of a novel intervention. The MELIORA intervention will be implemented in real-world settings in assorted studies targeting different social groups, including women at risk of developing cancer, cancer patients and survivors both in rural and urban areas. Particularly, these intervention studies will evaluate behavioural to nutritional, physical and alcohol consumption improvements fostering sustainable behavioural change.
MELIORA will develop specific tailored studies spanning six piloting centres, in four European countries: Greece, Lithuania, Spain, and Sweden, compassing both urban and rural areas and engaging 2000 women from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. This inclusive approach aims to assess unwholesome behaviours related to alcohol consumption and unhealthy food habits, promoting sustainable and positive changes for a healthier lifestyle.
The core of MELIORA lies in providing tailored support for cancer patients through the innovative Virtual Coach. This dynamic, interactive, and inclusive tool opens avenues for participants to access a wealth of intervention materials to facilitate the promotion and change of behaviours.
