Menopause Together NI is Northern Ireland's first ever menopause charity co founded by Roisin Hillman and Fiona Brown, as they understood, that there was an urgent need for more education, empowerment and support for women living here.
Menopause Together NI will empower women to make informed, evidence-based choices, to feel supported on their own personal menopause journey and understand themselves and their menopause communities a little better.
Women in Northern Ireland told us they wanted:
• to have easier access to the right information;
• to be able to utilise specialist Menopause clinics;
• there to be a focus on improving public awareness;
• health professionals and women to be better educated on menopause; and
• women to receive the best possible support when they are struggling with menopause symptoms.
It is our vision that women living here, and those responsible for their care, have the information, resources and training needed to manage menopause and its impact on women’s lives safely, confidently, successfully and through shared decision making, enabling women to continue to live their lives to the full.
Our focus is in four key areas, we plan to:
1. Develop ways to assist women for example via a properly resourced helpline and, support groups.
2. Initiate public education and awareness campaigns.
3. Provide education and awareness to health professionals and women.
4. Influence policy and decision making to improve outcomes for women.
We will use our expertise and resources to positively influence change and to highlight the key issues affecting women to both local and central government including neighbouring political institutions, the health and social care sector (HSC), and policy/ decision makers.
