Mental Mate was formed after our founder, Chloe, suffered with PTSD following the birth of her son, Reggie. After spending time in Neonatal Intensive Care Units, witnessing disturbing treatments to save Reggie’s life, the traumatic experience led to Chloe seeking out private counselling. After weeks of work with one of our counsellors, Chloe felt as though she had recovered from the ordeal, and was ready to raise her son, who we are pleased to say is safe and well. Without that quick mental health support, things would have looked quite different. That is where the motivation came from. To create a charity that people within the local area could access quick and free counselling if they couldn’t afford if themselves.’
