Mentoring Elite

Mentoring Elite is a private academic advising company for college-bound students in 9th-12th grade. Our mission is to foster long-term relationships with students throughout high school, providing guidance & aid in all stages of preparation for college admissions. Our clients primarily come from suburban upper-middle class families, but my vision is more expansive. 15% of company revenue funds private SAT instruction and college advising to select, disadvantaged students in Philadelphia city public schools. What We Do: -Plan course selection to ensure students are appropriately tracked for AP & upper level courses) -Enable students to explore interests through extracurricular activities in and outside of school -Apply to selective internship & scholarship programs -Do volunteer work -Apply for summer study abroad programs -Provide opportunities for additional alternative language study (such as Arabic, Hindi, Mandarin, etc.,) -Encourage students to take on leadership roles & start their own clubs and organizations -*Provide private tutoring for the SAT & ACT; (I’m also developing a more efficient, hybridized approach to teaching vocabulary, using word root stems and etymology) -*Prepare students to be competitive in the rigorous college application process -Offer guidance in all aspects of college admissions -*Emphasize intensive writing instruction for college essays - the essays have become paramount in college applications, and often determine an offer of admission
