Our program seeks to empower students with both the academic and social-emotional skills necessary to succeed in college and beyond.
We believe that in order to close the achievement gap, we must foster and develop role modeling and mentoring opportunities that enhances the students' social capital and perseverance (resilience). In order to address the barriers of the social determinants of success, we must provide our mentees the tools, knowledge, and resources to develop and foster their personal and professional networks. While nurturing positive mindset habits for that enables them to persevere, persist and thrive in college and beyond.
The Mentoring U Connect has three components: Academics, Social Capital, and Well-Being. These are the foundations in developing the whole student, coupled with nurturing skills of resilience and grit.
