Mercator Limited (earlier known as Mercator Lines Ltd) is Mumbai based International organisation. As a group, Mercator has diversified business interests in Coal, Oil & Gas, Commodity Transportation and Dredging. From humble beginnings, Mercator has diversified from being only a “Shipping” company to an “Energy focused conglomerate”. The logo of Mercator appropriately reflects this focus on Energy. The group’s business are as below: OIL & GAS: The group has presence in upstream sector through block ownership & project execution services. It had constructed and operated a Floating Production Unit (FPU) currently deployed in Nigerian waters. An FPU is a combination of a Mobile Offshore Production Unit (MOPU) and a Floating Storage & Offloading (FSO) vessel. The FPU was recently sold off to the field operator where it was deployed. It also owns four oil & gas blocks - two in Cambay basin (Gujarat), India and two in shallow offshore waters of Myanmar. 2 light sweet crude oil discoveries have been made in 1 of the Cambay basin blocks, CB-9. Both blocks of Myanmar are in the initial exploratory stage. Additionally, it is in the last stages of completing an EPCIC (EPC + Installation and commissioning) project for conversion of a Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit (MODU) to a MOPU. Dredging: Mercator Ltd. serves the huge infrastructure needs of the Indian ports with its various Dredgers capable of both capital and maintenance works. Mercator under-takes various dredging projects for Major ports and Indian navy to help improve and maintain drafts of the shipping channels at ports COAL: The group owns and operates various coal Mines in Indonesia and also holds a mining license in Mozambique. The coal business offers not just commodities but also complete logistics solutions for its customers from mine to the point of usage. The services include infrastructure facility sharing at the mine end – haul road, stockpile, crushing unit, jetty etc. and stockpile, loading/un-loading, last mine connectivity etc. at the user end. The business also undertakes trading of coal internationally. Commodity Transportation: Mercator Ltd. is amongst the leading Indian companies in this sector. It undertakes transportation of various commodities ranging from Crude Oil, Petroleum Products – liquid & gas and other bulk commodities like coal, iron-ore etc. for various national and international companies. It owns and operates a diverse fleet of vessels comprising VLCC, VLGC, MRs and Panamaxs. It also owns and operates a FSO in India.
