Merit Laboratories is an environmental laboratory testing company. Merit started as an idea 35 years ago by two scientists committed to scientific excellence. Michael Goergen and Violetta Murshak, Ph.D., believed that there was a need for an environmental testing laboratory in Michigan that provided accurate analytical results at the highest level of client service. Uncompromising in these beliefs, they launched the laboratory with an optimistic fervor for excellence. Through hard work, a dedicated team of talented scientists, and an investment in state-of-the-art analytical instrumentation, Merit has grown to become one of the premier independent environmental laboratories in the United States. Today, Merit continues to provide its clients with an uncompromising commitment to quality and service. As an independent laboratory, our owners work alongside the analytical team on a daily basis and are heavily involved in ensuring this commitment. Because of our local, independent ownership, we know all of our clients, understand their needs, and respond quickly to their requests. As testament to our commitment to quality, Merit maintains laboratory certification with the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP), the Department of Defense ELAP (DoD ELAP), and numerous state certification programs.
