Tommy & Dario's adventure began in 2010, when Tomaso Baldassarra, an Illustrator who had already produced a series of children’s books, and Dario Cavada, an engineer with the soul of a musician, first met. The Merlino DreamLab brand was born from this meeting with the intention of creating something innovative using new technologies in order to make Tommy's “paper” books interactive and more engaging. They dove into this adventure without worrying about what could go wrong. Their first project was done using Adobe Flash. This was a joint project in association with the “Azienda per il Turismo della Val di Fiemme” (The Fiemme Valley Tourism Association). They had their first “eureka” moment with the advent of the iPad which was described as almost "magical" by Steve Jobs. It was love at first sight! The iPad could help bring their dream of interactivity and ease of use to reality and to their audience! Tommy’s creativity and talent along with Dario’s engineering and musical abilities allowed their ideas to meld seamlessly. After seeing the first series of applications for interactive books, such as "Alice for iPad,” they started developing their first app. After six months of love and labor they finished their app. What a wonderful moment! What a great feeling!
