About MES (Mechanical Engineering Society): The Mechanical Engineering Society, IIT (BHU), is a non-profit organization, under the aegis of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT (BHU), aimed at promoting research and developmental work in Advanced Machine Design, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Management, Production Engineering, and Thermal & Fluids Engineering. Over the years, the MES has transcended the orbit of technical undertakings to include sports, cultural, and social welfare activities under its purview. The MES organizes conferences, seminars, and workshops to facilitate the exchange of scientific information and spirit between researchers, developers, engineers, students, and practitioners from all over the world. Laying special emphasis on innovation, the MES strives to foster creativity not only amongst engineering undergrads but also high-school students. The organization also works towards creating technical awareness and inculcating a scientific temper in people who do not necessarily hail from a scientific background, including the underprivileged strata. About COMET (Conference on Mechanical Engineering & Society): Conference on Mechanical Engineering and Technology (COMET) was instituted with the aim of promoting excellence in the field of mechanical engineering and providing a platform to bring out the best ideas from the students of the Department. Ever since its inception, COMET has seen an exponential growth in scale and engagement. The events in its folds have attracted the most brilliant engineering minds from various reputed colleges, nationwide. Engineering is practicing the art of the organizing forces of technological change. Engineers operate at the interface between science and society. About the Department: The Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT (BHU), was founded in 1919, under the remarkable leadership of Prof Charles A King, the first Head of Department and Principal of the erstwhile Banaras Engineering College (BENCO). Subsequently, over the past ninety-five years, the Department has grown to become the largest academic unit not only in IIT (BHU) but the entire Banaras Hindu University. The Department is known for producing some of the most exemplary technocrats of the nation. The postgraduate and the doctoral programmes in the Department are well-established, with infrastructural facilities available for advanced studies and research in a wide range of specializations, including Machine Design, Production Engineering, Heat Power Engineering, and Industrial Management. The Department boasts of a highly qualified faculty, with vast experience in various fields of Mechanical Engineering.
