About M.E.S.O.
MESO is a nonprofit cultural organization founded in 1998 with the support of the French and Hellenic Ministries of Culture. Over the past 25 years, MESO has grown into a strategic player in the fields of music innovation, cultural entrepreneurship, and the development of CCI in Greece and Southeast Europe. Originally established as the Greek coordination office for the European Music Day under the Fête Européenne de la Musique network, MESO has built one of the country’s most extensive cultural ecosystems, coordinating events in over 55 cities and producing more than 600 live performances annually. Its mission has evolved to provide equal access to professional opportunities, promote artist and music professionals development, and connect the Greek and Balkan music scenes with the wider European market. A core pillar of MESO’s activity is Athens Music Week (AMW), an annual music showcase and conference that brings together artists, professionals and policymakers from across Europe and beyond. Hosted in key venues across Athens, AMW functions as a gateway between the Southeastern European music sector and global creative markets. Through curated networking sessions, export-focused delegations, cross-border showcases, and capacity-building workshops, the event plays a catalytic role in fostering international partnerships and accelerating the growth of the Greek music and tech ecosystem. Building on this momentum, MESO leads or contributes to several EU-funded projects including the HEMI Music Hub, Music Tech Europe Academy, SONIC (Interreg Europe), and JUMP-European Music Market Accelerator. These initiatives expand MESO’s impact by providing artists, startups, and creative professionals with access to training, mobility, and investment-readiness pathways. MESO is recognized by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and collaborates with major networks, festivals, and policy stakeholders across Europe.
