Prefix of many compound words derived from Greek or formed recently (also in scientific Latin terminology), which generally indicates:
a. Change, transformation, transposition, transfer (and similar concepts).
b. Participation, affinity, with more specific meanings in different disciplines; for example in mineralogy,
c. Succession, posteriority, both in a local sense ("that comes behind or after, situated afterwards"), as in some terms of anatomy and zoology and in a temporal sense, to indicate a phenomenon that manifests in phases or a fact that is subsequent or consequent to another.
