Mettle, NIT Trichy

The department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (formerly Department of Metallurgical Engg.) admitted the first batch of B.E. students in 1967. Since its inception, this department has been one of the premier centers of excellence in the field of Metallurgy. The Metallurgical and Materials Engineers’ Association was instituted a decade and a half ago with an altruistic intention of promoting the most booming and prospective subject to the institutions which lack facilities to study the same .It is a mastermind by the students of the Dept., which witnesses annual renewal, with recent developments in the Materials field forming the core of its events. The brain-child of MMEA is METTLE, the annual Technical Symposium of MME Dept. It is celebrated as a Tech-Fest for two days during which students from different colleges all over the country participate in a variety of events, which include Paper Presentation, Materials Quiz conducted by IIM, Industrial Problem Solving, and other Materials- oriented workshops and win cash prizes up to 30000 INR.
