Scotland, the land of the brave. The birthplace of Wallace, Bruce, Smith, Burns, Scott, Stevenson, and more of the brightest minds of the 19th and 20th century. Where the European Enlightenment started. The country with wee green hills and majestic glens, deep lochs, and dangerous gales; with a proud history and a bright future. That marvellous place was our home for one to six years. We Mexicans fell in love with its nature, landscapes, but most importantly: people. For this reason, the Mexican Scottish Alumni Association is looking for cooperation between both our countries. We, alumni of every Scottish university, travelled from every part of Mexico, carrying our dreams for a better future. With our determination we achieved masters or a PhD degree, some of us both. With that in mind, we returned to our homeland, practising what we learned, helping others with our knowledge, and helping others to live what we lived. In this context, cooperation is part of what we learned in the time we lived in Scotland. By studying with many people from other countries, we understand that it will help achieve a better world for everyone. So cooperation is in our veins and must be in every aspect of our lives. MexScot Alumni Association stands as the society for bridging Alba and the land in the Centre of the Moon. We have a lot in common like Skara Brae and La Venta; several cultures such as Picts, Gaels, Vikings, and Scots; Aztecs, Mayans, Mixtecs, Olmecs, Purepecha, and other precolombian societies that shaped the history of our countries. Similarities between Scotland and Mexico are vast. For example, a Scotsman invented the television; a Mexican added colour. A Scottish discovered penicillin; a Mexican developed birth-control pills. Scotland gave the world Whisky; Mexico, Tequila. Scotland has the haggis, Mexico pancita. Scotland makes everything deep-fried, Mexican makes everything in a taco. Alba gu Brath! ¡Viva México!
