Founded in 1968 as Rice Financial, the company was built by industry pioneers who recognized the opportunities created by tax reform and the introduction of RRSPs. Aided and encouraged by deregulation a few years later, the company carved its niche as a formidable alternative to big banking and insurance institutions in Canada. In 2009, the company changed its name to MGI Financial Inc. to better represent the comprehensive services and strategies under the MGI Wealth umbrella. Over the past 38 years, MGI Financial has grown from a one-person operation in Brandon, Manitoba to become one of Canada's largest independent financial solution providers and the flagship of the Jovian group of companies. A vast network of branch and associate offices stretches from the BC coast to the Ontario/Quebec border, serving more than 80,000 clients and administering assets nearing $4.0 billion. Throughout its tremendous growth, the company has never lost sight of its roots in the community.
