MicroEnvironmental, Inc. (“MEI”) has developed a state-of-the art technology for maintaining core temperature using a far infrared beam, called the Invisible Blanket. The Invisible Blanket will be used in maintaining core temperature for surgical patients in pre-op, operative and post-op units in the hospital. There are 5,564 hospitals in the United States and approximately 50,000 surgical suites. The goal for MEI is to become the market leader in maintenance of core temperature for surgical settings in the US. We believe that our technology will greatly reduce, if not eliminate, healthcare-associated infections (“HAI”).
MEI relies on trade secrets and our own expertise as the market leader in far infrared beam technology. As this medical device evolves we expect intellectual property to develop as we perfect and reiterate our concept. The Research Foundation of the State University of New York (SUNY RF) has applied for a patent which would act as a loop between the device and the temperature reading. Should a competitor attempt to knock-off our technology, this IP may be useful as it would add value and differentiation to our product. Currently, MEI is attempting to secure an option on this potential IP.
Our technology will advance and improve medical care, helping hospitals, doctors and nurses better perform their critical duties utilizing a superior technology that is safe and easy to use.
We have a tremendous value proposition for hospitals. The Invisible Blanket can be used in place of the 3M Bair Hugger and will cost far less. On average we will save hospitals $5500 per month, per operating room. We plan to present our value proposition to each of the U.S. hospitals. MEI will sell the device directly on an 18-month interest free plan. We will interact with our customers in a variety of ways: make in-person visits, schedule appointments using phone and e-mail as well as nurture our customer base using CRM software.
