The Matthews Institute for Development and Sustainability (MIDAS-WASH) is an African-led think tank advancing water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) systems transformation across the continent. Rooted in context-specific research, capacity building, and sector governance, MIDAS-WASH exists to strengthen sustainable, locally managed water and sanitation solutions in Africa.
Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and Africa's Agenda 2063, our work is grounded in evidence, equity, and ecosystem thinking. We drive systems-based sector governance, train the next generation of WASH leaders and technicians, conduct water quality monitoring for water security, and generate evidence to influence decision-making from the community to the global stage.
