MiddlePolice Consortium

Leading the destination-driven DDoS prevention technology, MiddlePolice is born out of research from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. We are the researchers and creators behind MiddlePolice. The goal of MiddlePolice is to guarantee the delivery of mission-critical traffic even against sophisticated DDoS attacks. Traditional DDoS preventions rely on empirical filtering rules to scrub attack traffic, which is insufficient against sophisticated and unprecedented attacks that can bypass the filtering. Rather than engaging arms race with attackers, MiddlePolice mitigates DDoS attacks by enforcing customer-defined network forwarding to guarantee the delivery of customer-desirable traffic. Thus, MiddlePolice offers proactive (rather than reactive) defense even against unprecedented DDoS attacks. As a result, MiddlePolice prevents any possible downtime during attack mitigation and guarantees delivery of mission-critical traffic without needing to know the characteristics of attack traffic. Our products can be delivered as software deployable in the cloud and customers' data center or on-prem hardware that offers immediate DDoS mitigation out of the box. Our products are compatible with major DDoS prevention vendors that our customers may already use.
