Midwestern Mechanical is a plumbing, heating, HVAC, and fire protection contracting firm established in 1983 by Dwayne Klarenbeek, who started the business out of his home in Larchwood, Iowa. Since its inception, the company has earned a solid reputation for providing superior craftsmanship, design and service in the four-state area and has become a major force in the plumbing and heating industry. For over three decades, Midwestern Mechanical has built a stellar reputation for delivering unparalleled quality in plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and fire protection services to residential, commercial, and industrial clients. Today, it's a 330-person company with four offices, recognized as a regional leader supporting projects across South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, and Nebraska. Their locations in Sioux Falls, SD; Rapid City, SD; Spencer, IA; and Sioux City, IA provide the infrastructure to fulfill their commitment to first-class workmanship. As of 2024, Midwestern Mechanical became 100% employee-owned through an employee stock ownership program (ESOP). The company has also developed one of the largest apprenticeship programs in South Dakota, offering programs in plumbing, HVAC, and fire protection that are certified by the U.S. Department of Labor.
