Miit is a mobile app that makes it easier to meet new people in your area that share your interests, values and stage of life. If you've ever felt lonely, you're probably not surprised to learn that you're not alone. And despite living in a world that's more connected than ever, feelings of social isolation are on the rise across almost every demographic. Maybe you're introverted, or have just moved to a new area. Whatever your situation I'm sure you'll agree, forming new relationships as an adult is hard. We live in a connected society, but we are not connecting. What you may not know is that loneliness is a major precipitant to health issues such as depression and alcoholism. In fact it's such a serious issue, that the UK recently appointed a Minister for Loneliness. Studies have found that adults with strong social support have a reduced risk of many significant health problems, inc. depression, high blood pressure and an unhealthy body mass index (BMI). It has even been found that older adults with a rich social life are likely to live longer than their peers who have fewer real connections. Our mission is to build a platform that does a better job of bringing people together and helping them form real, meaningful connections. Sure, there's plenty of apps for making friends, but what we've learned is that while existing apps may look at things like location or interests, they all fail to take into account the deeper factors that affect who we connect with over the long term.
