As a highly qualified healthcare professional with experiences of defeating anxiety, depression, stress-related diseases and successful legal self-representation in employment, immigration and human rights law, Hong Zhou funded Mile Rainbow CIC and Rainbow Hong International Group Ltd offering Physical and Mental Health and Wellbeing Consulting (PMWC). It targets legal professionals, corporate employees, young people and individuals encountering adversities.
People are more open to talk about mental health, but they might think it’s intangible and harder to improve than physical health. But 45% of GP appointments in the UK are due to medically unexplained symptoms (MUS), which are largely related to mental health issues.
GP often refer them to a psychological professional, but patients feel these professionals spend much time listening to their problems without doing anything else. Most mental health training focuses on raising awareness of anxiety, depression and simply self-help tools, which is far more inadequate to improve wellbeing.
The PMWC fills in the gaps of existing (psychological) services. It combines Western Medicine, Health Science with a focus on prevention, early detection and management of stressors, stress, MUS with Taichi & dance movements, art & language learning, mindfulness, acupressure, Chinese Medicine and sharing Hong’s experiences from a patient’s perspective to empower people to dilute the intensity and frequency of stressors, thus to minimize their detrimental impacts on mental and physical health.
