About Miles for Moms
Miles For Moms is a student-led (and developed) initiative that was founded by members of Circle K International. A prominent community service organization both on the UA campus and around the world, Circle K is the collegiate equivalent of Kiwanis. Kiwanis's ELIMINATE Project was designed to combat Maternal/Neonatal Tetanus (MNT), a vicious disease that takes a life every 11 seconds, and to provide aid for those afflicted. The fundraiser will consist of a 754 mile-long charity hike beginning in Lexington, Virginia and concluding in Toronto, Canada, the site of the 2016 Kiwanis/Circle K International Convention. Each mile hiked will raise money for vaccines, and after our team has completed the hike we will carry a banner into the convention that displays our sponsors and their contributions in front of a crowd of thousands as well as multiple news outlets. Our goal is to raise $100,000 from individual and corporate donations to provide ELIMINATE with the financial resources it requires to vaccinate those affected by MNT around the world.
