MilkBuddy

In developing countries 252 Mio. tons of food losses occur after harvesting in early stages of the value-chain. We’re a GEA spin-off, which focusses on decentralized food processing to prevent these losses. Our vision is to provide better access to value-added products, to establish a food quality standard and to reduce the amount of food loss. To realize this vision, we are working on two vehicle based concepts: 1. A simple processing unit at village level, which improves the current value chain between post-harvesting and processing/distribution plant. 2. An advanced processing unit for example at collection points, where the goods of many farmers are collected. Such a unit produces value-added products and prepares them for direct distribution. By developing our first product “MilkBuddy”, an onsite and mobile collecting and processing unit, we solve the milk procurement problem in emerging markets. Our customers are able to achieve a better raw-milk quality and produce more value-added milk products. Our three pillars to success are simple in handling, safe in processing and sustainable in resources. That's what MilkBuddy is about.
