Mimi embraced the seed to table concept one hundred years before it became fashionable. Summer mornings were a time of plenty as produce straight from the garden filled Mimi's kitchen. Firm red “tom-ah-tahs” (as Mimi use to say), picked when hot to the touch, and snapping crisp peppers found their way into a pot with onions, garlic, sugar, vinegar and seasonings. As the day progressed, the catsup's heavy aroma covered the kitchen like a sweet, spicy blanket. By day's end jars were filled, so summer's essence could be savored all through the year.
