As a result of a central nervous system disorder, I move through levels of alertness every day experiencing reality in a variety of mixed consciousness modalities. I suppose I am making the most of what is the maddening experience of a chronic health condition. My most successful method for drawing is to put my mind on autopilot with minimal or no intention to outcome. The contents of my consciousness take over, patterns, forms, connections, etc. I have noticed that the nature of what is happening around me tends to influence my artwork, in a variety of outcomes (Figural, metaphorical, etc..), e.g. watching television or listening to a podcast.
The digital hybridizations stem from states of flow; streams of consciousness involving intuition that draws on my reservoir of images and experiences. Emerging structures spontaneously taking shape that embody familiar impressions and intuitions.
I love hearing about what others perceive when they look at my art. They’re interpretations amaze me. My hope is that the viewer can find their own sense of connection and meaning. I frequently work on my art from many different angles, and I find that people often enjoy changing the orientation.
