Mindo Chocolate Makers is a bean-to-bar chocolate company crafting award-winning chocolate using heirloom Nacional cacao.
Rooted in both Ecuador and Michigan, we go far beyond fair trade. We work directly with local farmers who grow cacao in regenerative agroforestry systems that preserve biodiversity, protect native forests, and support rural livelihoods. Every step of our process—from fermentation to stone-grinding—is done with care to bring out the true flavor of the cacao.
We’ve been recognized internationally for the quality of our chocolate, including the highest rated 100% bar in the Americas at the International Chocolate Awards. But what makes Mindo truly special is our mission:
To show that chocolate can be both delicious and ethical, rooted in place, tradition, and environmental stewardship.
At our Michigan factory, we offer tours, truffle-making classes, and hands-on chocolate experiences. In Ecuador, our café, chocolate factory, and educational tours provide immersive insight into how sustainable chocolate is grown and made.
