About Mineropar - Paraná Geological Survey

Mineropar was founded in 1977 and incorporated as a joint stock company, together with other state mining companies, whose objective, at the time, was to meet the specific demands of the States in the search for ores and the industrial sector lacking raw material and strategic minerals. During this period, emphasis was given to mineral prospecting and research projects, with promotion actions aimed at the productive sector. As of the Federal Constitution of 1988, in order to meet society's demands for environmental studies and urban planning, Mineropar gradually revitalized its original attributions, applying comprehensive efforts to studies of the physical environment, in an integrated manner with other government institutions. The results achieved led the State Government, in 2014, to propose to the Legislative Assembly the transformation of Mineropar into a public company, re-adapting its corporate purpose as the executing entity of State actions in the provision of public services in the area of geology, leaving, definitively, through a new state law, its prerogatives as a state-owned mining company. From then on, Mineropar presented itself to society with a work philosophy and lines of action characteristic of a geological survey, as it has been formatted in several countries. Its works and actions served as technical and institutional support to government agencies and entities, municipal governments, educational institutions and the private sector, generating and providing the necessary information for the correct use and occupation of the physical environment, seeking to promote social development and economics of Paraná. In December 2016, its attributions were integrated into the ITCG field of action, which became known as Institute of Land, Cartography and Geology of Paraná. In December 2019, it was incorporated by the Environmental Institute of Paraná, now called Instituto Água e Terra.
