MIG is an incorporated association formed by its founding members in February 12th 2014. Its formation was the logical next step to an initiative that had started in early 2012 in London. Subsequent to the RIMS 2012 meeting, two working parties, collaborated in drafting of a clear and coherent mining specific policy wording and a claims protocol. The working groups were well represented by a diverse group of mining companies, insurers and related service providers. In the following months considerable progress was made on both of these initiatives.
The experience gained from this collaborative approach led the group to a better understanding of our respective industries and a realisation of how the industry can further improve by continuing to work together.
The long term nature of this project led to the need to create an environment that would support the continuation of this group and other related projects in the future.
