Mintap (est 2012) is the Worldwide distributor of the German designed and manufactured closed side setting (CSS) measurement device- The C-Gap.
The C-Gap measures the CSS of cone and jaw crushers between 7 and 220mm to an accuracy of 1mm. The virtually indestructible bulbs are simply placed into the crusher from a safe position on hose lengths varying from 3 to 30m. By squeezing the bulbs the pressure in the hose increases and is measured in the dust proof hand held device running on 4 x AA batteries.
The C-Gap effectively removes the need to use lead weights, bags full of clay, aluminium foil balls, old oil filters and empty steel containers (amongst other interesting ways to measure the CSS).
The advantage of this unit are:
- Increased monitoring of the crusher CSS: ability to measure the CSS every shift rather than every day or worse (never). Measuring "metal to metal" is not a true indication of CSS
- Accuracy: +/- 1mm (ability to calibrate with lead)
- Cost saving: reduce operating cost- reduced consumption of lead
- Enhanced wear monitoring of the crusher thus optimising liner change outs
- OH&S: easy to use and light weight
- Environmental: reduce consumption of lead
- Reduced downtime: no need to remove any items off conveyor belts or feeders post crusher. Also the bulb can be moved around the crusher (N, E, S, W) without needing to retrieve it between measurements.
