The Mirica Group uses inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, and chemical biology to address important metal-mediated processes with energy, biological, and medical relevance. We employ an interdisciplinary, problem-based approach for the synthesis and characterization of new organic and inorganic compounds, with the ultimate goal to address unsolved problems with broad implications to our society.
We create novel transition metal complexes, catalysts, and ligands that can help mediate multi-electron processes relevant to energy applications and organic transformations. In addition, we design metal-containing bifunctional compounds as potential therapeutic and diagnostic agents for Alzheimer’s disease (AD).
Our group is composed of diverse researchers coming from different nations, cultural backgrounds, and also research interests (i.e., inorganic, organic, chemical biology, analytical, and physical grad students).
