Mirux is an early stage medical device company founded in 2017 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. The company's mission is to bring fast and easy-to-use lab-based bacterial and antibiotic resistance tests to clinics, laboratories and hospitals around the world.
Mirux’s unique detection technique enables testing of multiple bacteria in low concentration from a nano-microliter of sample using a cheap disposable cartridge. The platform features a method of detecting cells such as bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics or for the detection of particular cell types such as mycobacteria. It has screening algorithm for identifying compounds effecting cell growth and metabolism.
The company is a university spin-off of Center for Advanced Micro-electro-fluidics (CAMEF), McMaster University.
