About Mississippi Artificial Intelligence Network (MAIN)
The Mississippi Artificial Intelligence Network (MAIN) is the nation's first statewide artificial intelligence (AI) initiative, addressing the rapid emergence and significant impact of AI across various workforce sectors. MAIN prioritizes AI education, workforce training, awareness, and innovation with a holistic approach. MAIN originated from a collaborative effort among Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC), AccelerateMS, Intel, Dell, all community colleges, and several major universities in Mississippi, including Mississippi State University, the University of Southern Mississippi, the University of Mississippi, Alcorn State University, and Mississippi University for Women. The network continues to expand across Mississippi through partnerships with public and private organizations in various sectors. MAIN also includes membership and active participation from other organizations such as the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE), Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL), Mississippi Cyber Initiative (MCI), Mississippi Manufacturers Association (MMA), and more. Funded by AccelerateMS, MAIN aims to provide leadership in AI and workforce development, foster innovative AI industries, and cater to the AI educational and training needs spanning K-12, community and technical colleges, universities, and the business and industry sectors. These efforts are geared toward positioning Mississippi as an AI industry leader, thus driving economic growth and ensuring a prosperous future for the state. MAIN's strategic objectives are: 1. To lead statewide efforts in addressing AI and workforce needs, preparing Mississippi for future AI advancements. 2. To attract and nurture innovative AI and advanced technology sectors, enhancing the state's industry landscape. 3. To fulfill the comprehensive AI education and workforce training requirements across K-12, community and technical colleges, select universities, and the business sector in Mississippi.
