Mitosis Inc

Mitosis was started in Spring 2012 by students who wanted Dartmouth to join the ranks of other great entrepreneurial campuses. Riley Ennis (co-founder) was working at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center on a cancer nanotechnology project, when he came into contact with several other research labs that asked him for advice on how to take an idea from the lab bench to the market. His background in launching a biotechnology startup allowed him to help some of these students with their projects, but he soon realized that there was a huge gap within the Dartmouth community for aspiring entrepreneurs. Matt Ross (co-founder), also saw this gap through his early exposure to entrepreneurship at Dartmouth while running the Entrepreneurial Society’s business plan competition, in which many competitors felt hard-pressed to find the resources they needed. Riley and Matt also saw great potential in Dartmouth’s startup community, and developed the vision to provide Dartmouth entrepreneurs, engineers, and scientists, with the resources, mentorship, and support to help launch project ideas. Mitosis is expanding quickly and is developing a powerful network within the Dartmouth community as well as with outside entrepreneurial communities. The goal of Mitosis is to establish a variety of channels for Dartmouth students to chase their ideas and carry those ideas to the world stage.
