Mitzvah Day

Mitzvah Day 365 is a catalyst in building local communities by bringing together over 37,000 people each year, to take part in collective, hands-on social action projects which make a real difference to local issues. Now a well-anticipated focal point in British Jewry's annual calendar, Mitzvah Day galvanises participants – regardless of age, faith, affiliation, gender or socio-economic position – to donate their time and energy to a diverse range of causes that make a tangible difference to those in need around the world. We have seen that genuine community inclusion occurs when everyone, regardless of capability, participates side-by-side. Mitzvah Day 365 supports and encourages hands-on social action throughout the year, building stronger communities and creating valuable relationships between different faith groups. Mitzvah Day 365’s hundreds of social action initiatives are underpinned by our mission to reduce hardship and poverty, care better for our environment and give a little joy. We bring these Jewish values alive by creating opportunities and partnerships that put them to work. Mitzvah Day was founded in 2005 by Laura Marks and became a registered charity in 2008.
