Malta Maritime Law Association

The MMLA is a non-profit making, voluntary organisation which was set up in 1994 to promote the study and advancement of Maritime Law and its administration. The MMLA plays a key role in ensuring that the Maltese maritime legislative and regulatory infrastructure is constantly updated and revised as well as further consolidate Malta’s pre-eminent position as an international maritime services centre. For such purpose, the MMLA is regularly consulted by Maltese competent maritime authorities. The MMLA is a member of the Malta Maritime Forum and the Comite' Maritime International, the oldest international organisation in the maritime field formally established in 1897 in Antwerp. Through such membership, Malta is represented at high profile meetings negotiating and drafting important international legal instruments. In addition to the above, the MMLA regularly organises seminars on topical issues, some of them addressed by prominent industry personalities associated with the maritime industry.
