Mobile Afya (mHealth) is a digital health startup using mobile technology to provide virtual access to healthcare and basic health information in local and native languages starting with Swahili in Tanzania, East Africa. Our services are developed by healthcare professionals, medical doctors and public health specialists with the support of engineers and tech innovators.
PROBLEM STATEMENT:
Poor accessibility of healthcare services; 50% of people in Subsaharan Africa go through their lives from birth to death without seeing a doctor. In Tanzania where we have initiated our operations, the average is 1 doctor per 20,000 people, resulting in the highest global rate for deaths from preventable diseases. We are using mobile technology to bring health to people who would never have it otherwise.

By October 2023: Mobile Afya is a female-founded, led, and funded startup incorporated in Tanzania and looking to expand to Kenya. The team at Mobile Afya consists of two founders from Tanzania and two founding partners from Germany. The founding team has over 50 years of collective experience with backgrounds in medicine, IT, finances, and business development.
