Tourism & Service Management at MU Vienna

The Department of Tourism and Service Management of Modul University Vienna is an international team of passionate researchers and educators working together in the Austrian capital to provide sound solutions for our changing world. Maintaining a fresh and innovative research approach, our faculty uses decades of experience to tackle today’s growing list of environmental, social, political, and technological concerns in the domains of tourism and service management. Digitalization, Big Data, Blockchain, the Sharing Economy, experience design, accessibility, climate change and sustainability are among the issues explored within our research projects. The department’s commitment to excellence is well exemplified by the high number of publication citations and Best Paper Awards from international conferences and research journals. Our colleagues retain positions of editorial boards of highly recognized and distinguished journals (Journal of Travel Research, Journal of Travel and Tourism Marketing, the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, the Journal of Modelling in Management, Tourism Economics, Tourism Analysis, Journal of Information Technology and Tourism) and boards of scientific organizations (AIEST, TRC, BEST EN, IFITT, EuroCHRIE). The department enjoys a long record of fruitful and mutually beneficial cooperation with industry and academic partners all over the globe. It is an affiliate member of the United Nations World Tourism Organization and works closely with the European Travel Commission, European Cities Marketing, the European Commission, the World Tourism Cities Federation, the Government of the Austrian Republic as well as professional and industry associations and foundations.
